WORLD’S LARGEST LED TV, SHARP AQUOS 90" IS A CES INNOVATIONS 2013 DESIGN AND ENGINEERING AWARD HONOREE
Posted on Tuesday, November 13, 2012

MAHWAH, NJ, November 13, 2012 – Sharp today announced that the incredible 90" class (90" diagonal) AQUOS®, the world's largest LED TV, was named as an International CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products.

At nearly 4 feet tall and spanning over 6 and a half feet wide, the 90"class AQUOS provides a viewing experience unlike any other LED TV. Its picture quality is as stunning as its size, featuring Sharp's legendary 1080p AQUOS LED panel, delivering a bright picture with high contrast.

A true engineering breakthrough, the 90" class AQUOS is relatively thin and light. It weighs only 141lbs and is less than 5 inches deep, so it's easy to mount on a wall. And with LED technology it’s so energy efficient, it costs approximately $28 per year to operate.

"Our R&D teams are constantly pushing the envelope to introduce products that deliver truly unique experiences," said Mark Viken, vice president of marketing, Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America. "With 60, 70, and 80 inch and 90 inch class sizes, our unmatched large screen lineup has helped Sharp become the fastest growing TV brand in the U.S*."

The AQUOS 90" is packed with features befitting a flagship model including Smart TV with dual core processor, web browser and built in WiFi. It also features full HD Active 3D and a 120Hz panel with AquoMotion 240 technology, virtually eliminating blur during fast-moving scenes.

The prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

The Innovations entries are judged based on:

  • Engineering qualities
  • Aesthetic and design qualities
  • The product's intended use/function and user value
  • Unique/novel features that consumers would find attractive
  • How the design and innovation of the product compares to other products in the marketplace
