AmpliVox Sound Systems and its CEO Don Roth have been recognized with the 2017 Business Ethics Award, presented by the Rotary Club of Northbrook. The honor commends Roth for his active involvement in the community and his company’s generous donation of products to a wide range of charities. The award was announced on November 17 at the Rotary’s annual Diamonds and Denim Fundraising Auction.
AmpliVox is the second recipient of the award, which was launched in 2016. The award is designed to honor local non-Rotarian businesses who operate according to the high ethical standards supported by Rotary, including the organization’s fundamental commitment to “service above self.” Businesses are nominated by Northbrook Rotary members, with final review and selection made by a special committee.
As AmpliVox’s owner and CEO, Don Roth has instituted Cause Marketing campaigns that have benefited a number of charities in Northbrook, in Illinois, and around the nation. In addition to cash donations, AmpliVox’s Cause Marketing programs provide free sound equipment to non-profit groups, carefully selecting products that fit the organizations’ specific needs. One of the most high-profile programs has been the Pink Podium Promise, which donates weatherproof lecterns and megaphones to breast cancer groups for use in races, fundraisers, and education programs. AmpliVox has also made large donations of equipment to the American Red Cross, Special Olympics Illinois, the North Suburban YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, and many other grassroots organizations filling community needs.
AmpliVox is proud of its deep roots in the Northbrook community. When the company outgrew its previous space, Roth opted to stay in Northbrook and move to an expanded facility on Anthony Trail to preserve the company’s relationship with its employees and community partners. Don served on the Board of the NSYMCA for several years, providing leadership that helped save the Y from closure and transform it into a rejuvenated and thriving community center. An active participant in the Northbrook Chamber, AmpliVox has supported Chamber activities with sound equipment donations and technical assistance to enhance events.
“The Northbrook Rotary is happy to recognize AmpliVox and Don Roth for their outstanding service and community involvement,” says Andy Vass, President of Northbrook Rotary. “Don’s support of the broader community reflects the ethical standards that are at the core of the Rotary mission."
