As part of its ongoing Community Connection Donation
Program, AmpliVox Sound Systems has donated a
variety of its top-rated products to the Healing Newtown program in Newtown,
Connecticut. This innovative grassroots program seeks to help the residents of
Newtown recover from the trauma of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass
shooting in 2012.
Shortly after the events at Sandy Hook, the Newtown Cultural
Arts Commission (NCAC) created “Healing Newtown Through the Power of the Arts,”
a program that encompasses arts space, classes, workshops, performances, art
and music therapy, and special community events. Run by the Town of Newtown
through the NCAC and in association with the Connecticut Office of the Arts and
the National Endowment for the Arts, Healing Newtown provides these services to
help the community move past the tragedy in a healthy, positive manner. The
program has been widely heralded for its healing impact, and was singled out in
2013 for a Governor’s Arts Award in recognition of the extraordinary service it
provided.
NCAC officials approached AmpliVox with a request for sound
equipment to support its many public events and educational programs. AmpliVox
responded with a number of its signature products: a Mity-Meg Rechargeable
Megaphone, a Rechargeable
Wireless Portable PA System, a sound equipped Modular Tabletop Lectern,
and a Digital
Listening Center. These versatile products will serve a variety of
functions for the Healing Newtown mission.
“AmpliVox is proud to support the efforts of the NCAC and
its Healing Newtown programs,” notes Don Roth, AmpliVox CEO. “It’s inspiring to
see the Newtown community regain its strength after the terrible events at
Sandy Hook School, and we are glad that our products will help to continue
their healing process.”
