Free Hearing Screenings Offered at InfoComm

As part of its commitment to advocacy for hearing loss and hearing loss prevention Listen Technologies will sponsor the House Research Institute’s free hearing screenings at InfoComm.

Bluffdale, Utah, USA — The House Research Institute and Listen Technologies are teaming up to provide free hearing screenings to attendees and exhibitors at the 2013 InfoComm Exposition at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

The free hearing screenings will be available in the Audio Pavilion, Hall A, Booth #A381 during show hours from Wednesday, June 12 through Friday, June 14, and will be open 30 minutes before the show for the convenience of exhibitors. A certified health technician will conduct the screenings based on regulatory guidelines established by OSHA, and House Research Institute personnel will provide hearing health education, tips and other resources.

The screenings are offered through the House Research Institute’s Sound Partners® hearing loss prevention program with exclusive sponsorship from Listen Technologies, as part of the company’s commitment to advocacy for hearing loss and hearing loss prevention.

Sound Partners raises awareness among audio and music professionals and the listening public about the permanent hearing health risks associated with excessive exposure to sound volumes at or exceeding 85 decibels (dB), and practical protection methods to encourage the lifelong enjoyment of sound.

"We are passionate about our ongoing commitment to build awareness about hearing loss and hearing loss prevention—and as such, we jumped at the opportunity to once again sponsor the House Research Institute to provide free hearing screenings for attendees at this year’s InfoComm," said Russell Gentner, President of Listen Technologies Corporation. "The number of people with some degree of hearing loss is staggering. In the US alone, 17 percent or 36 million Americans have hearing loss and this number is rising. We are doing our part to bring a voice to those who deserve the opportunity to fully engage in experiences in a work environment, at their houses of worship, , at the theater, at the movies, and in seminars. Hearing loss can be isolating and we want people to know they don’t have to withdraw or settle for poor sound experiences. The free screening gives people in our industry a chance to understand where they are with their hearing and what they can do to protect it from noise-induced hearing loss.”

“Listen Technologies is a strong advocate for legislative compliance for assistive listening, hearing loss awareness and prevention,” said Marilee Potthoff, Director, Community Education & Outreach, House Research Institute. “Through their sponsorship, we are able to offer professional hearing screening services and the Institute’s extensive hearing health and science expertise to thousands of industry professionals whose careers depend on hearing well.”
